Clenergen in the Philippines to install up to 34MW of biomass plants

Deutsche Bank in Belgium won’t fund biomass power plants without long-term contracts
In Belgium, Deutsche Bank has said it won’t fund biomass power plants unless they have long-term offtake contracts locked in. When analyzing projects, banks will look at feedstock supply, storage and logistics, conversion to energy, construction risks and energy sales contracts. Japan biomass consumption rises tremendously
In Japan, March’s biomass consumption is said to have risen 52.8% year on year to 171,373 metric tons. Consumption by large-scale utilities, who usually co-fire biomass with coal, rose 16.4% while wholesale users such as paper plants increased their demand by 55.8%.

Thailand’s Capital Engineering Network to build 9.9 MW biomass plant
In Thailand, Capital Engineering Network is teaming with China’s Norinco International to build a $18.5 million, 9.9MW biomass-fired power plant. Construction is expected to take two years and to break even with five years.
Electricity generated from the project will be sold to the local utility.

Clenergen acquires 18MW biomass power plant in India
In India, Clenergen has agreed to acquire an 18MW biomass-fired power plant located 40km from Chennai, subject to bank approvals of the company’s assumption of previous outstanding debt and loans.

Canada’s ACE says small mills shut out of biomass-to-power scheme
