North Carolina Biomass Trader debuts: state-sponsored website for trading, marketing biomass
In North Carolina, the News Observer profiled the launch of N.C. Biomass Trader, a website developed by the state government to track, trade and highlight available biomass. According to the News Observer report, biomass available includes ” 14 tons of wood dust, available every two weeks, a weekly supply of 6,000 gallons of cooking oil, and 500 cubic yards of wood chips, also available every week.” The purpose of the site, according to state officials, is to keep biomass out of landfills.
Some growing pains: “A man called to offer [Novozymes] six wooden pallets; Franciosi said he needed 6,000.” 175595.html
